Catholic Charities honors four parishioners at Matthew 25 Parish Luncheon

By Mary Powers

Catholic Charities of San Francisco honored four parishioners nominated by their pastors at their first Matthew 25 Parish Luncheon on Wednesday, September 24, at the Cathedral of St. Mary of the Assumption’s Event Center. The new event combines previous events in each county (Marin, San Francisco, and San Mateo), bringing together participating parishes and ambassadors for an archdiocesan-wide event.

The title of the new event points to Jesus’ enumeration of the Corporal Works of Mercy outlined in the Gospel of Matthew, chapter 25.

The parish ambassador program helps to increase awareness of Catholic Charities’ programs and services, advocacy efforts and volunteer opportunities. Pastors of each parish designate an ambassador to serve as the liaison to Catholic Charities to help the parish by identifying resources that Catholic Charities can provide to parishioners in need. They also provide support to Catholic Charities through cultivating and advertising volunteer opportunities.

Currently there are 17 parishes in the archdiocese participating in the ambassador program with 27 parish ambassadors.

Honorees at the luncheon included Carlos de Marchena from St. Charles Parish, Jackie Tribolet from St. Patrick’s Parish, Marian Previtali from St. Sebastian Parish, and Jack Fiorito from St. Hilary Parish.
