Father Piers M. Lahey 1949-2022

Father Piers M. Lahey passed away in Daly City, California on Monday, November 28, 2022. Loving brother of Father M. Denis Lahey, (Abbot of the Hartford Street Zen Center in San Francisco). Beloved son of the late Donald Charles Lahey and Marie-Louise B. Lahey, grandson of the late Gertrude T. Bocqueraz of San Mateo.

Father Lahey was educated at St. Catherine of Siena Grammar School in Burlingame, California, Wm. H. Crocker School in Hillsborough, California, the Woodside Priory School in Portola Valley, California, Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon and St. Patrick Seminary in Menlo Park. Father Lahey was ordained December 4, 1982 in San Francisco.

Father Lahey loved music, playing the piano, literature and especially dogs. In his younger years he loved refereeing soccer games up and down the San Francisco peninsula. Above all, he loved his parishioners, in the several parishes of the San Francisco Archdiocese where he served nearly forty years, beginning at Star of the Sea in San Francisco, St Anthony of Padua in Novato, St. Charles in San Carlos, and the two parishes where he was honored to serve as Pastor, Good Shepherd in Pacifica and most recently St. Andrew in Daly City. He will be dearly missed.

Friends may visit Tuesday, December 6th after 4:00pm at St. Andrew Church, Southgate and Sullivan Ave., Daly City where a vigil service will be held at 5:30pm. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Church of the Good Shepherd, 901 Oceana Blvd., Pacifica. Private interment. Donations may be made in his memory to the San Francisco Archdiocese Priest Retirement Fund, One Peter Yorke Way, San Francisco, CA 94109.

Activate language translation

Google Chrome (Desktop & Android)

Firefox

Firefox has a built-in translation feature. If not active, right-click any webpage and select Translate Page to enable the feature. 

Safari (iOS)

  • Navigate to Settings > General > Language & Region to add secondary languages, allowing translation of web pages. 

Troubleshooting
If translation does not work, check your browser extensions for conflicts or ensure the browser is updated to the most recent version.
