National Eucharistic Congress day two: The Greatest Love Story

“Knowledge can make someone great, but only love can make a saint, ” Father Mike Schmitz told the thousands of participants in the second evening session of the National Eucharistic Congress in Indianapolis. “And the road to love is repentance.”

The theme for day two of the National Eucharistic Congress was The Greatest Love Story. The day included bilingual impact sessions for families, youth, young adults, ministry leaders, among others. There was also several Masses around the city, including a morning Mass at Lucas Oil Stadium with New York Cardinal Timothy Dolan. Archbishop Cordileone celebrated the day’s Traditional Latin Mass at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in downtown Indianapolis. The Mass had around 1500 people present both in the Church and outside. In his homily, the Archbishop spoke on the “10 ingredients of a Eucharistic Revival,” among them being entering into silence while in prayer and in Church, fully participating in the Mass and Liturgy you attend, observing the Eucharistic fast before Mass, frequenting the Sacrament of Reconciliation, adding prayer into one’s daily routine, and living one’s vocation faithfully and well.

The evening keynote speakers included Live Action’s Lila Rose, founder of the Daughters of Mary of Nazareth, Mother Olga of the Sacred Heart, and Father Mike Schmitz. The night ended with Eucharistic Adoration.
