Fr. Robert White died peacefully on February 5, 2024. Fr. White was born in San Francisco on July 16, 1935 to Robert Keane and Mary Virginia White. He is survived by his sister, M. Barbara Kelly (James); and two nieces, Anne Marie Kelly and Maureen Kelly (Rich); and two grandnieces.
Fr. White attended St. Joseph’s Seminary in Mountain View and St. Patrick’s Seminary in Menlo Park and was ordained a Roman Catholic priest on June 10, 1961 at St. Mary’s Cathedral. He served at many parishes in the San Francisco Archdiocese including Our Lady of the Rosary in Palo Alto, Saint Mary in Gilroy, Saint Lawrence Martyr in San Jose, Church of the Assumption in Tomales and Saint Anthony of Padua in Novato. More recently he served as chaplain at Nazareth House and Alma Via of San Rafael. He was proud of his service as chaplain for the US Coast Guard in Petaluma. He was an avid collector, beginning with stamps and ending with a wonderful collection of puffins.
Friends may visit Friday, February 23, 2024 from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m., at Duggan’s Serra Mortuary, 500 Westlake Avenue, Daly City where a Vigil Service will be held at 7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, February 24, 2024 at 11:30 a.m., at St. Anne of the Sunset, 850 Judah St., San Francisco.
