Ahead of the Holy Father’s consecration of Russia and Ukraine to the Immaculate Heart of Mary on Friday, March 25, Archbishop Salvatore J. Cordileone released the following statement to the priests and faithful of the Archdiocese of San Francisco:
“I urge all of us, Catholics throughout the Archdiocese of San Francisco, to unite ourselves in prayer with Pope Francis as he consecrates Russia and Ukraine to the Immaculate Heart of Mary on the Solemnity of the Annunciation, March 25th. This day we commemorate the Blessed Mother’s ‘yes’ to receiving Jesus Christ. For all of us let this serve as a renewal of the consecration of our own Archdiocese to the Immaculate Heart of Mary on October 7, 2017. There is no true and lasting peace without our Lord Jesus Christ. May Mary lead our world leaders to say ‘yes’ to her Son, the Prince of Peace.”
The Archbishop encourages the faithful to join at their local parishes by praying the rosary before morning Mass on Friday and in praying the consecration after Mass.
